Honda Dio - 50cc 2 Stroke!

Post by Rider »

Hey dudes,

Just got another video, of a very different and whuzzy machine.
Honda Dio 50cc, the Rainchild as it's called by some. :)

Light, tiny and very cheap.
Good for shopping trips and bouncing around on.

It's got a really low top speed (50 kph going downhill!) but whuzzes along ok.

I take some grief from the boys in BS going about on this dink-machine as even scooters whuzz past with ease :D

If it isn't sold in LOS by Honda stay away. I got a direct import Honda Zoomer 50ccm. Great looking, great fun. But it doesn't run properly anymore. After much reading on forums I finally figured the problem. There is a tip on the camshaft valve that wears off and needs to be replaced to fix the open/close of the intake.

Have yet to find a mechanic in Hua Hin who understands what needs to be done.

I'm so tired I told them to sell it if anyone is interested. Maybe some young thai boy will have the passion to fix it.

Been ok with mine, it's a trooper.

I don't agree with the 'if it's not sold in LOS...'
My CBR 400 was not and is not sold in LOS and I've had no probs with it.
Honda makes are typically reliable for the most part...

I fear for safety on a bike with that small a top speed. Roads and drivers in England for sure are used to vehicles that can't go above that speed. But on the roads here I kind of get the feeling that other drivers expect others to be able to speed up to get yourself out of a tricky situation, and drive accordingly!

How much are you asking for the bike?

Nah, I've been fine when out and about on it.
I don't take it on the highways, just the road to town and that.
I just hang around in the 'bike-lane' and treat it as a fast bicycle :)
