Wedding dress

Post by Dayzy »

Hi guys,
We're coming to Hua Hin next month to get married and then going on travelling for several weeks so have wondered whether it may be possible to box up my wedding dress and post back to the UK? Do you know how long it takes to send parcels back to the UK and are they guaranteed to arrive back safely? I suspect if this is possible insurance is also easy to arrange?
Thanks for your help

Yes you can safely post it back. I used to send a lot of parcels to the UK. Only one ever went missing and even then it was found at the UK end several months later!
At the main post office in HH they will even help you to pack parcels and tape them up. You can buy the cardboard boxes there as well. There is a registered post option and I think parcel tracking now (someone else will I'm sure know about that.)
There's no need to go for express delivery either - it costs the earth. The regular airmail option is fine. Also parcels sent 'land' rather than airmail go much cheaper and take about a month.
If you are staying in a reasonable size hotel/guest house in HH, and can get back there before flying home, another option could be to pack up the dress or leave it in a spare holdall at the hotel. I've left cases at hotels in HH and Bangkok while travelling and never a problem - and never a charge.
A sprout is for life - not just for Christmas.
