Costs for taxi from Suvarnabhumi to Huan Hin
Is the price for that service still about 2000-2500 B?
Usually I get myself a taxi from the departure level.
Do you have a better idea?
Maybe book straight from the Huan hotel or a hua Hin based taxi provider?
How much do they charge?
My flight touches down at 4:50 pm, so I'll be ready to go at around 6:30 pm.

I get a limo from the airport, which costs 2,600 Baht, so your pricing sound reasonable. However, some on here will normally quote you less.

Me too, 1800, why pay more, if it´s a safe driver. Leoadvocate wrote:I normally pay 1800-2000 Bt including tip.

After the long trip from the UK, at huge cost, my preference is to spend an additional £5 per head for the comfort and luxury of a limo. OK, maybe some prefer to spend that cash on a couple of beers. It's the same as most things - you get what you pay for. It's all personal preference.leoedgar wrote:why pay more

Do you book that with a Hua Hin based business, or do you get the safe driver from the airport?leoedgar wrote:Me too, 1800, why pay more, if it´s a safe driver. Leoadvocate wrote:I normally pay 1800-2000 Bt including tip.

Getting a safe driver obviously means hiring someone you know.
We all like to demonstrate our worldly wisdom by parading the bargains we get, but this taxi business is relatively simple.
1. Get a cab from the airport for the sort of price the OP quoted and take a chance on the quality of the car and the ability of the driver.
2. Book through the forum, pay a bit more, relax in the knowledge that you'll be travelling in comfort and relative safety.
3. If you've booked a hotel, ask them if they have an airport collection arrangement.
4. Either through a resident friend or while you're here, find a taxi driver/company you're comfortable with and make an arrangement with them - can be as cheap as 1600 baht.

I couldn't agree more. We once picked up up a meter taxi at the airport - a 2 hour white knuckle ride, and I don't think I've ever been so terrified.

I have paid as little as 1600 bt and never more than 2000 bt with tip.
If hiring at the the airport, agree on the maximum speed and insist on seeing the car before you hire.

Re: Costs for taxi from Suvarnabhumi to Huan Hin
If you cut out the taxi stands and get a hold of a taxi directly it can cost 1200 to bkk from hh or 1500 to hh from bkk. Once you have found someone you are comfortable with this can be your cheapest option. I have a guy that is always early, drives very well and is very polite. I know some will say not to cut out the middle man but he is the one that offered his card and told us to call directly. He speaks pretty good English to. Anyway to each there own on how you do it but i know those prices can be had.

I have been told before, not to promote my own bussines, and what I said at that time, it´s not my bussines, it´s a good friend I learn to know throug a taxi company, I once hired for a trip from BKK to HH. They charged me 2600, which I think was ok, but after talking with the driver, and found out that all this company was doing, was to call him, and give him the information when to pick me up, and then they paid him 1300 for the trip. I don´t think that´s fair, so I made an agreament with him, I give him 1800, and we are both happy, and he is like you said reliable, precice and driving safe.Arlo wrote:If you cut out the taxi stands and get a hold of a taxi directly it can cost 1200 to bkk from hh or 1500 to hh from bkk. I´m not allowed to give his contact details, but you can read in other treads.

Leo, you were pulled up because a large percentage of your posts were plugging a taxi service, we concluded that you had something to do with it - this conclusion would be made for any member consistently pushing the same service.
For the record we have our own taxi service and we, the agent, take 10-15% of the cost and the driver gets the rest. It costs money to operate a website, make the calls, and collect payments online - what is left for us after that is paid is a tiny fraction per trip so it really isnt worth the hassle most of the time, especially when everyone is trying to undercut us on here.
I hope this clarifies things for you and others.
