Touring car championships - where to download races?

Post by buksida »

After the F1 at the weekend the Aussie touring car championships came on and the kids loved watching it. Got me thinking and wondering where I can download full races of the 2012 BTCC season, tried the official sites and some torrent sites but no joy.

Anyone any idea if it is possible to download past races and if so where from?

'Racing for Me' should hopefully solve your problems. It used to be called Racing Underground, but then, for strange political reasons, it went underground and eventually reappeared as 'Racing for Me'.

Have a look here... https://www.racingfor.me/

This may sound a bit daft, but it's all new and I don't know if you need an invite. If so, I don't know if I have any, which sounds equally daft. PM me if you need one and I'll try.

I've had a look, and the whole invite part of the site appears to be in disarray at the moment - something to do with rising like the Pheonix from the ashes of Racing Underground. Although I seem to qualify for two invites, I, like almost everybody else on the site, haven't got them yet. There are many promises of fixes and suchlike, but no apparent solution yet.

I will keep checking back from time to time to see if life has improved at all and let you know if there is any movement.

As I type another idea came into my head (this is a rare event). 'The Box' covers all BTCC, WTCC and DTM races, so you should be able to get what you want there.

Hope that helps, but let me know if it doesn't, and I'll try again...

Have a good evening -

No you shouldn't unless you are downloading more than the maximum allowed to start with. They don't ask you to upload anything for the first 28 days so long as you don't download more than 2.5 gigs. Of course, if you leave your computer on all the time, what you download will automatically upload (even if a bit slowly at first) and, bit by bit your ratio will improve, which, in turn, will allow you to download more stuff. If you want to start the ball rolling asap, try downloading anything that is 'free' (soaps and suchlike - don't worry, you don't have to watch them!). It will not affect your download stats, but will improve your upload stats if anybody snatches them from you. They are quite strict about all this, but this page might help...

http://www.thebox.bz/ratio.php (You've probably seen it already).

They are also strict regarding which torrent client you are using, even to the extent of which version you are using. I use microtorrent (or utorrent) 1.8.2 and it works fine for me. Later versions of utorrent are not approved. There is a list of goodies and baddies here: http://www.thebox.bz/forums.php?action= ... picid=2189

Remember that you/it will always start slowly, and it will take a while to build up your ratio and status, but it's worth it in the end, and it works fine when it works!

Good luck, and let me know if you have any more probs.

Have a good weekend -

Ok, I'm using BitTorrent 7.6.1 which it obviously doesn't like as the file is just sitting there.

Tried uTorrent 1.8.2 as recommended which seems to be working - thanks for the tips!

Good tips all round, but the above are particularly worth noting if you stay with TheBox, as it's easy to get into debit at first. Download anything that is 'free' and let it sit around for a while. There are some free things that are worth watching.

Persevere with this, Buksi, as I'm sure you'll find it a valuable resource. I've recently been watching test cricket, but there's lots of good stuff to be had apart from sports.

The staff are very helpful, too, if you have any problems.
This is the way

Any idea where I can get the last two BTCC races? They haven't been uploaded on The Box.
