Created to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s 80th birthday, and in its fourth edition, The Hua Hin Triathlon 2012 will start and finish from the picturesque fisherman's village of Baan Tao Kao, located 10km south of Hua Hin. This event is set to become one of the largest Triathlons in South East Asia, with an expected attendance of 500 racers from around the world.

Good luck to one and all who are going to be taking part. I would love to give it a shot, but not ready yet.........hopefully next year.

Events like triathlons are hoping to raise the profile of multi-sport and endurance events, and are set to become major sport attractions in Thailand.

The 4th edition of the Queen's Cup Hua Hin International Triathlon will take place on Aug 19 in the ambience of the fishing village of Khao Tao, 10km south of Hua Hin and about 200km from Bangkok. It is expected to attract 500 racers from around the world.

The race is open to individuals and teams. The triathlon includes swimming (1.5km), biking (41km) and running (12km), while the duathlon is made up of running (5km) and biking (41km) and running (12km). The total value of prize money for winners in all categories is 200,000 baht.

The event is supported by the Hua Hin Municipality, Sport Bicycle Company, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Thai Hotel Association with the aim of celebrating Her Majesty the Queen's 80th birthday.
