Visa restrictions eased for Arab medical tourists

Post by buksida »

Thailand on Tuesday eased visa rules for citizens of six Middle Eastern countries to boost the kingdom's position as a medical hub.

The cabinet approved a policy to allow 90-day visas on arrival for people seeking medical services from Bahrain, Kuwait, Omar, Qatar,Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. They may be accompanied by up to four relatives.

Currently, visas on arrival are only good for 15 to 30 days. Thailand draws tens of thousands of medical tourists each year, attracted by its cheap but professional hospitals and staff.

Thought: No chance of them easing visa restrictions for the thousands of foreigners that live here 365 and spend all of their money on Thailand.

We currently live and work in the ME and have done so on and off for far too long; a couple of years ago on one of our visits to LOS the wife and I decided to get a full medical once over at Bumrungrad Hospital in BKK and couldn't believe how many Arab nationals were in the place, I've never seen so many dish-dashes & fan belts and Guinness bottles in one place outside of the ME. Obviously it's the same old story...........money talks :cuss: :cuss:

Dishdasha are the long robes and fan-belt (better than Arab Strap!) is the twin ropes round the headgear (called ajal) I think.
Guinness bottles - I've no idea
