Mr.VS and I are taking a 7-day trip to India in October and want to leave our car at Don Muang airport. I know they have a car park, but have no idea how much it costs. I've looked on various websites, but they are obviously promoting hotels and taxi services.
Has anyone left a car there? Was it still there when you got back? Any idea of daily costs?

Re: Car park charges at Don Muang Airport
Thanks Mr.Viking Man, but it's the wrong airport. We're flying from Don Muang on cheapy Air Asia. Not as expensive as I expected (especially compared to charges at UK airports). I wonder if the prices will be the same? Or even cheaper

Not sure how current this information is (2011). Note that the parking is quoted for the domestic airport, but would assume that it is similar at the international terminal? Lots of roadwork last time I passed on Vipawadee/Rangsit road last week, looked like access to International terminal (where the overhead bridge connects to the Airport Hotel is) from the ground level was not possible.

Given that you'll spend approx 2,000 baht on parking alone, not including the cost of fuel there and back, I would seriously consider a limo/ booked taxi. Your car will then be safe and secure at home.

Re: Car park charges at Don Muang Airport
I read (but I dont know where) that there is the same price at Don Muang, i.e. 250 Baht per day.
Re: Car park charges at Don Muang Airport
Upon further reading, apparently they revert to the 1 hour rate after the first twenty-four hours, so that would increase from 250B per day to 480B per day.

If you don't need to bring the kitchen sink with you, I would strongly advise the limo service (booked two way from your end).
As this is still an unknown (I could be wrong and they *could* have long-term parking), err on the side of caution.

Re: Car park charges at Don Muang Airport
Thanks for all the informative stuff. After weighing up all the pros and cons, and not forgetting that I'm married to a Scot, we've decided to take the mini-van from the university (along with one large case, which has its own seat), to the Victory Monument. We'll then get a taxi to the airport from there.
We'll leave the car at the university, which has pretty good security, and do the reverse of the above for our return. It works out an awful lot cheaper, especially as our aged car is a bit of a petrol guzzler, and it means that Mr.VS isn't driving in the dark from Bangkok to Nakhon Pathom. I guess, all in all, it will cost us less than 1,000 baht. A taxi from Nakhon Pathom to the airport would be nice, but they are few and far between in this neck of the woods, so we'd rather not leave it to chance.
Thanks, again, to all of you for your help.

Re: Car park charges at Don Muang Airport
P.S.
Mr.VS has just seen my post and suggested that we hitch-hike from Victory Monument to Don Muang. "It's just up Vipawadee Road. If we leave early enough, we can still make it if we pick up the pace..."
I think/hope that he was joking.

Re: Car park charges at Don Muang Airport
Ah. Sorry, VS, forgot you are up in Nakorn Pathom.
I tend to do the same thing, leave the car at work (where there is secure parking) and get transport to the Airport train going to Swampy as the office is fairly close by to a station. The long-term carpark at Swampy is not covered so the car would be exposed to all the extremes of the weather. I prefer not to leave it at home as the area is fairly low-lying and was under water for more than two months during the Bangkok flood. Office was not affected.
