Public accessible fresh water fishing spots

Can anyone recommend any good public accessible fresh water fishing spots, not the Fishing Lodge I am looking for something different.

Doesn't Terry at the Fishing Lodge have a boat that he will take you out on to a public lake with? Have a read of his website, I'm sure I've read that there.

I am really looking for rivers, streams, lakes, etc where one can go for a bit of peace and quiet and not be accompanied by anyone.

Nothing against Terry, I am sure if with him I would catch far more fish, or should that be at least one.

It might be in your interests to check up on what species you are allowed and not allowed to catch in the wild.
On a trip up to the Pa-la-u area we saw some fish in a stream and the locals told us they were protected.

Very interested in any spots also, especially any spots that fit the float angling style of fishing. I've seen many possible venues driving around, especially south, of Hua Hin but never see anyone fishing there and no idea if its possible.

I was having a bit of a drive about/explore this afternoon. We went to the Wat at A2 on this map. There were Thais fishing in the small lakes there. No idea if it's any good.

There's a reservoir on the Huay Sai Tai road, from Petchkasem toward the bypass at Sam Phraya it's past the old zoo over the hill and on your right, you can't see it from the road, it's 500m down a dirt track. It's a municipal water supply reservoir so you don't need a permit. Coords for Google Maps 12.674004,99.905793

Not sure what's in them, pla-duk, pla-chon, pla-nin probably. Pla-duk and pla-chon I would say are best fished like European pike, but with more emphasis on dead bait than using a lure. Pla-nin will probably have a go at anything small dangled from a float. I may be corrected by people who fish more often but I'd say you need a wire trace for pla-Chon.

Frank..the reservoir I think you're mentioning has alas been drained..we know it as 'that dam-place'.

If you take the Pala-U Rd West till you see on your right the 'Dole' pineapple factory, take the right turn off the main road here, past the factory (on your left now) & follow that road for about a kilometre or 2 you come to a big lake on your left which DOES allow fishing (for free).

US - that was a nice place - lots of wildlife but probably not now if there's no water.
I might take a drive out tomorrow to see what the bottom a Thai reservoir looks like.

Frank...it will surprise you..when it was 1st drained it looked like a lunar-landscape..still a good area for mtn-biking in around there tho'..
