Nok Air calendar "inappropriate"

Post by Bristolian »

Following the Saturday Night live, featuring Thailand’s Rosetta Stone language ad, it appears that at least one Thai company recognises that Thailand has a certain sex reputation that they intend to use to promote their business

Culture Permanent Secretary Prisana Pongtatpitakkul on Saturday attacked Nok Air for its controversial calendar.

"The calendar shows that several business operators still adhere to conventional practices in using female bodies as the PR or marketing tool," she said. "They lack the sense of social and cultural responsiblity and ignore social and cultural repercussions - particularly female dignity." She noted that this explained why foreigners still have negative attitude towards Thai women and all parties in Thai society need to lend a hand in fixing this.

Nok Air now shows the photo of 12 girls in yellow bikinis, posting in front of its aircraft, on its Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/nokairlines. The girls appear on the front cover of its calendar, which will be distributed to 300 fans.

Prisana admitted that it is within the airline’s rights to do so and the Culture Ministry has no rights to punish it. She said the ministry will soon host a discussion with related parties like the advertising association, PR companies, media and consumer protection agencies to address the issue, before using female bodies as a marketing tool will becomes an acceptable norm.

I think it may be a little late to address the issue of using female bodies as a marketing tool :D

She probably has shares in the airline, as there will now be millions of people admiring the calendar who have previously never heard of Nok Air!

All I need to know now is where I can get hold of the calendar...

It is a scam, a con. a bait and switch advertisment.
The flight crew do NOT wear yellow bikinis on the planes.
Very dissappointing!!

Well I agree.

Those Nok Air girls have been very naughty and should be given a damn good spanking and told to wear full length outfits. Preferably in rubber or pvc. Shame on them!

Nok Air constantly actively advertises and recruits young, good looking girls for the Stewardess positions. They have a constant training program and cycle the girls out of the plane when they reach 28 so if they wish to continue the job they can catch on with another airline before turning 30 (which apparently is the magic old age standard). Now that I have relocated to Khanom in Nakhon Si Thammarat I will be flying Nok when possible over Air Asia, if only for the eye candy to look at, for the hour flight to DM. Don't you all wish Nok flew to Hua Hin now?

What for? There's enough here to keep me captaining my own cockpit and I'm well known for my smooth landings.
