It's fully packed. Going to be a record season for sure. A guest house owner i know says it's already getting very difficult to find a room.

Left Hua Hin the day before yesterday, called back to service, that's life. Will be back to enjoy shortly, but this was on another topic...

The High Season is usually busy and sometimes it can be difficult to find rooms. Best idea is that when you have a date make a phone call and reserve. A lot of guest house business in walk in trade. I.e. first come first served. The early bird gets a bed for the night.

When you get a reservation confirm again at least once before arriving.

Busy?

Post by PeteB »

oasisdave,

Can't speak for January although it is 'high' season. I do know that I have just booked for February / March and had problems on flight dates and on the type of room available in the Anantara.

Interestingly enough, some good deals were available in Bangers, where I have booked better for my money than last time.

I note that you asked about hotels, rather than guest houses. Advice here must be to book via an agent - as prices seem invariably much lower than 'walk-in' or booking direct.

Good luck.

Peter

If you're gonna book in advance and the hotel is listed on the www.sawadee.com site, I would recommend going through them as you usually get a cheaper rate than booking direct with the hotel. Thats my experience at the Grand and Suites Hotel.

I extended my stay at the suites hotel and the reception staff were shocked at what I had paid, but still allowed me to stay at the lower rate!

How long does the high season last for? I was hoping to get out to HH in late Jane or feb? Should I too be looking to book sooner rather than later?

Hi knocker.
The high season lasts medio December to medio March.
End of March is normally rather quieter here, but as long as Phuket lick her wounds it's difficult to give any certain estimate.
I intend to live forever - so far so good.

It runs through a booking system called r24.org they track where the bookings come from so we get a little commission instead of sawadee.com

I had no idea how these things worked! Okay, will use the link in future when using a hotel listed.

Sadly, the one I like isn't - and next time I visit (likely to be April) I'll be looking for a house to rent to test out not being in the centre and whether I think I can hack that for the long term!!!

Maybe you should promote a bit more how HHAD will benefit if the link is made through the site?
