Immigration has been visiting hotels and resorts in Prachuab province to enforce the 24 hour reporting that they have to do for foreigners staying there.
This has been law for sometime but now they've started to clampdown on it in an effort to build a database of the whereabouts of all foreigners in Thailand.
Those offering accommodation need to register their premises here: http://extranet.immigration.go.th/pibic ... FNHOTELREG
Once done all foreigners staying must be registered within 24 hours of check-in online here (after logging in): http://extranet.immigration.go.th/pibics/loginfn.jsp
Details required are name, entry date, port of entry, TM card number, visa number, passport number, nationality.
Apparently there is a maximum fine of 100,000 baht for failure to do so.
The website has been designed for IE7 so is very cranky - and there is no English version so you need to be able to read Thai to navigate the menus and options.
