Last nights TV news said one dead at the scene, one severely injured and one injured.

Facebook photo code. Not graphic but the people are identifiable.
Doesn't look like the train was going very fast given where it has stopped.

Mods feel free to remove if you think this is unsuitable.

My view, with no detail of how the incident occurred : It takes a huge effort to change the way 65 million people think and act, it takes almost no effort to put in barriers on railroad crossings.

Apparently another stupid idiot who didn't pay attention, or thought he could beat the train. What a waste of life. Not having barriers at railroad crossings, another way of controling Thai overpopulation?

In my anger over such a meaningless waste of life I failed to express my sympathy for his surviving passengers. They have my most sincere sympathy and I do wish them a good and speedy recovery.

That seems to be about the only crossing left in Hua Hin or Takiab where they haven't installed warning lights and gates that lower when a train is coming. I don't know why they left this one for last as I used to live just up the street nine years ago and a car got hit about once a month all the way back then. Now there is much more traffic on that road.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Terrible, Terrible..........I take that crossing so often.

My sympathies for I assume the girl that died...such a needless waste of life. I hope its a lesson to others, I'll certainly be taking more precaution if i go that way again.

Sorry but there was no girl in the car... 3 guys. The one in the front passenger seat was holding a small dog. It was this guy and the dog that were killed.

Whilst regretting the death and injuries I still wonder what was going on in the car. What was the driver doing? When you approach this crossing from the west, going towards Market Village, the rail track isn't exactly hidden and you can see the track for hundreds of meters in both directions from well before reaching the track.

Anyway, as part of the ongoing work in that area maybe a proper crossing will be included. Does anyone know if they're upgrading the road along the railway there or preparing for the double tracking?

BTW, there is still an uncontrolled crossing at Soi 2 - but that's not such a busy street. There's also an unofficial bike crossing at Soi 34, but SRT has put permanent barriers there, which you have to duck under if you're on foot or dismount if you're on a bike.

Seems to me that some tourists who dont know Hua Hin well could easily find themselves driving up soi 94 and miss the fact they are stumbling onto the railway.. imagine the seen.... 4 young people in a car, music on, excited, arguing about how they got lost, how do they get to the right road...... then WHACK.
Think the local government are highly negligent and have blood on their hands again..

I do not know who is the responsible party for barriers, gates, whatever... Local Government or SRT. I would have thought it is SRT. No matter.. I would thought that a little driver education would help but that is an impossibility.

The guards were supposed to be there on public holidays but as you say they did not last long!

maybee the guard fell asleep like many other guards.

jokes aside its a pity someone have to loose their lives becource lack off driving education or barriers.

even if there is barriers i allways take a good look as they not works every time.
