Doughnuts

Post by Big Boy »

I don't eat very much these days, but while in the centre today Mrs BB bought some doughnuts. I ate one, and I have to say it was the best I've ever had in Thailand - cost was just 5 Baht each.

The shop can be found by turning left from Petchkasem Road up Soi 70 about 100 yards. It is on the right on a street corner before you get to the crazy train crossing. They sold various types - mine had a custard filling and was delicious.

I definitely recommend them.

There's a barbers on the same side a few doors closer to the traffic lights where I get my hair cut, and I've often been tempted to buy some of the donuts but always resisted - I think next time I will submit!!

Plenty of "Doughnuts" in Hua Hin. Not sure which one filled BB up with custard but sounds like a bargain if you are into that sort of thing.

If that's the kind of stuff you think about everyday - your life must suck... BIG time. :(

Me...

I'd rather think about a decent doughnut.

And what can I do about it? Absolutely nothing, but maybe whinge on an Internet forum. However, the people of Hua Hin must regularly buy the crap they sell in Market Village at double the price. I'm simply pointing them in the direction of what IMHO is a better product at a fraction of the price.

The best donut I've had in Thailand was probably a Krispy Kreme jobby outside Cental Pinklao. Silly money at 40 baht each but the thing weighed a ton! Extremely bad for you... but it tastes sooo good! :D

Currently I buy the bavarian creme doughnuts from a little guy at Samut Sakhon market who does all sorts of buns and cakes. At 7 baht each they are a bargain (basically identical to the Dunkin' Donuts). Does Hua Hin not have a market seller doing doughnuts also?

Then they're definitely not worth 7 baht. :D Maybe it's just me, but Dunkin Donuts must be the worst I've ever tasted. No matter which ones you buy, they all have exactly the same flavor. There are tons of little bakeries around here that make far better.

Not sure about a market seller, but the shop identified by BB is in the middle of HH and easy enough to find and with good parking facilities just around the corner.

Through no fault of my own, so why the hell should I care? Politicians cause the mess, let them fix it.

Syria in flames,
Yes, and both sides are equally as bad. Just let them get on with it.

Euro collapsing,
All donuts are paid for in Thai Baht only

global economies a nightmare
Yes, bankers should definitely be banned from buying donuts

and here in HH grown men are discussing Doughnuts.
We also have a few frequenting night crawlers in search of the latest and cheapest rub and tug.

Get a grip guys!

I think most of us have already got a grip, which is exactly why we can focus on the more enjoyable things in life. :thumb:
