King and Queen to move to Hua Hin

Post by buksida »

Their Majesties the King and Queen will leave Siriraj Hospital on Thursday afternoon and move to Klai Kangwon Palace in Hua Hin district of Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Veera Sriwattanatrakul, governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan, said the province has been informed by the Royal Household Bureau that their Majesties will leave Siriraj Hospital at 4pm on Thursday and travel to Hua Hin.

Preparations were being made to welcome them through improvements to the surrounding landscape and the erection of national and royal flags on part of Phetkasem Road, which leads to the palace.

The province will also put on extra parking for people who travel to Hua Hin municipality to welcome the royal couple. The governor said 11 spots have been designated as parking lots for well-wishers' vehicles.

Pol Maj Gen Thanet Soonthornsuk, superintendent of Prachuap Khiri Khan police station, said a meeting has been called to ensure Their Majesties' safety and decide on traffic routes for the royal visit.

About 500 police officers would be deployed for their arrival.

When is the last time either of them was there?

Must be five or six years.

If they're leaving BKK at 1600 I estimate arrival around 1730 given the escort and speed. That would probably be a good time to be in position if you want to see the motorcade. Pete

I am surprised that they are not using the helicopter that was bought for that purpose. One of the 3 is set up with a full intensive care interior.

I had to go near the Palace around 10-00 am and the road blocks were being installed, plus some people already lining up with cameras. Looking at the overcast it could well turn into a washout.

You could be right Nereus. One article mentions "decorations from HH Airport to the palace...." Maybe they will only motor from the airport to the palace. Helicopter will put them there much earlier than I mentioned. Pete

No helicopter. Took the kids to have a look and it was quite late by the time they arrived in Hua-Hin.

Yes they did arrive, there were thousands waiting to greet them. 500 policemen were deployed. We played golf with one of the bodyguards this afternoon and he told us the King is in good health.

Surprised a part photo was able to be taken. When I attempted something similar on the main drag near Cha am some years ago I was told in no uncertain terms by the MIB No photos. Would have been useless anyway as the convoy of gold cars and vans went through at 140+.

the warship salute, firing a salvo of shots in the gulf outside the palace yesterday afternoon was quite a breathtaking spectacle and demonstration of the power and glory of their majesties in HH...spine tingling stuff
