Colonoscopy - Choice of Venue....

Post by certocito »

I have a colonoscopy every three years and am due to have one this year. Just wanted to know if anyone had recently experienced the procedure in any of the local hospitals here in Hua Hin and what your impressions are about the procedure plus how much does it cost.

There was a clinic named "the Blue Angel" with a highly qualified staff. I believe they were experts in colonistic and rectal procedures. Unfortunately it has been closed for some time....

Shame you have to put up with these imbeciles when you asked a serious question.

Try the Bangkok Hospital. They are very good and also have a top colon cancer expert there now. I can't remember the cost but it was covered by BUPA.

Not want to probe you too much about why you need a colonoscopy, if you are simply being screened for colon cancer then you may want to ask around for a FIT (Fecal Immunochemical Test) which is a non-invasive and quite accurate method of screening.

Forgive me for joining the imbeciles for a sec, but honestly, Frank, I can't believe that wasn't deliberate!

On the subject of imbeciles (see above), there really isn't much that is sacred on the forum, and silly jokes are just part and parcel of forum life. Deliberately provocative and offensive comments are a different kettle of fish.

I didn't mean to imply that the pun was offensive at all - maybe intrusive? :naughty:

Thanks for all the comments..!! In all seriousness, I have one every three years to check for any further polyps that may have appeared since the last ones were removed. I have had the FIT for colon cancer screening about two years ago and that was negative. This three yearly check is to find any more tubovillous adenomas that may have reappeared.

For those who enjoy the odd joke or two - I was hoping to have one here because I've heard that the Thai camera crews are a lot smaller than European ones..!!!

Fair shout certocito and nice to see a sense of humour where it's sadly lacking in a few individuals on this forum.

Don't attempt the procedure in China - I swear the entire camera crew and back up personnel were present during my experience!!

I did hear a few years ago that it was possible to "swallow a camera" for the colonoscopy....... I took this with a pinch of salt at the time, but after you've raised the question, had another look.....

Could be available with the bigger hospitals such as Bangkok? And certainly less "invasive".....
