Thailand's economy falls into recession

Post by SunandFun »

Thailand's economy falls into recession after weak second quarter results.
What will happen to the exchange grates now?
I wouldn't have to manage my anger if people could learn to mange their stupidity!

It " grates" me to think of what will happen next :D actually the exchange rates should improve for those reliant on incomes or pensions from overseas but as usual things are changing daily and you take your chances when you can...

Topic moved. If this is a news article, where is the source?

Thanks BB.
I didn't realize the requirement of a link.
And I captured the whole article in one sentence. :guns:
But it seemed "news worthy" to me.
Now lets anxiously watch that Baht exchange rate improve for foreign currency exchanges.

Today, India put further restrictions on duty free. No more TV's coming in duty free from Thailand to India.
This along with the gold restrictions is not good for Thai economy either.
The Indian Rupee just hit another all time low at 63.22 vs US$. The government is in knee jerk mode.

It is hardly surprising because each time I have taken Jet Airways to either Mumbai of Delhi ( from Bangkok), I would estimate that well over 50% of the passengers were taking a TV in !

I have also been to India twice this year and on each occasion the outbound flight was full of Indians taking TVs home. These were almost exclusively Samsung Smart TVs, so quite expensive. The oversized bandage check-in looked more like a queue at a Powerbuy shop.

Oops. Bit late now I suspect but BAGGAGE was the word that I was unable to spell. However is is usually my luck, or lack of, to sit next to the nutter.... One of life's small questions.... Am I unlucky or do I attract them? No need to answer as I already have confirmation from her indoors! :D

Hopefully we will see a steady strengthening of GBP against the weakening Baht 49.5 today at least its going in the right direction for us the wife supports family members back home so her income has been stretched for a long time now, with a piss poor exchange rate.
