UK citizenship for Thai wife
UK citizenship for Thai wife
hi all. Just to let everyone know who may need to go down the citizenship route in the uk. We sent my wifes citizenship application off with £874 on the 7th of July and she has her ceremony on 12th september. Very impressed with the turnaround time as websote says possible wait of 6 months. When i rang the registry office they had a slot spare this week ptherwise we would have had to wait till 10th october for next ceremony. Just need to get a uk passport for her now. Including passport. Fiance visa. Visa company. Marriage visa. Indefinite leave to remain visa and citizenship certificate it has all cost £4000. Been a little bit of a ballache but shes worth it.
Re: uk citizenship
Hope she is worth it, I know a few people who have done the same as you......then not long after getting to the UK where they are from, guess what.....they did a runner all they were after was UK citizenship.
Re: uk citizenship
To counter a negative response..... I acknowledge that in many cases where a Thai woman marries a Brit things go pear shaped after she gains citizenship but not so (far) for me and many others. Married in 1990 and got the citizenship sorted five years later. Still together and recently moved back to Hua Hin after living in the UK so the kids got a decent education. Not always a bed of roses but the hard work has so far paid off. Biggest pain now is that she loves the UK weather and finds Thailand too hot while I am the opposite. Currently in UK due to son getting married and suffering yet another Saturday evening's TV 'entertainment' where she insists on watching X Factor. Can't wait until ten days time when we will be back in Hua Hin.
Re: uk citizenship
I only posted for infprmation. Not for negative response. Weve been together 7 years. Solid as a rock both in our thirties and have a 1 year old together. Been on england for 6 years. They dont need citizenship to get benefits they can gey them immediately if they claim non physical domestic violence from their spouse. We know a thai girl who achieved this while still on a fiancee visa. Lived in a refuge to start with and now on full benefits. The do
Non phusical domestic violence was claimed to be mental cruelty. She was granted indefinite leave to remain amd did not have to pass the life in the uk test
