Renewal of Non IMM Retirement visa

Post by stevieboy »

I will renew my retirement visa next week. Do I need an appointment as I called there many times but they never answer the phone ?

Also I hear many different people talking about the requirements regarding the 800,000 thb in the Thai bank. Besides the copies of the bank book do I really need a letter from my bank saying the money is in there if I am bringing in the bank book that I just updated?

Thanks in advance.

As with all things here - cover every aspect, so letter from bank is needed even though you have the bank account book. You don't need to make an appointment just turn up and queue with the rest.
Had a friend and his wife went there a couple of days ago (both farang) - they have been here for five years and each year no problem with renewing visa. This time they were asked to produce written proof that their marriage license that they have showed for the last five years, is genuine. They now have to get the authorisation from the embassy in Bangkok at 2805 Baht and bring back to Immigration - this will make them a day late and no doubt cost them a fine as well.!!

So be prepared with everything - you never know what will happen and what changes may have been made (even if the websites tell you different..!!)
