A drug dealer was arrested on Monday in Chon Buri's Sattahip district after he went to a relief centre to donate methamphetamine pills to help flood-affected people, Sattahip district chief Phawat Lertmukda said.
Mr Phawat said Jakarerk Mukpradap, 39, went to the centre at a local temple in Sattahip and gave 11 methamphetamine pills to the staff.
The donor, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, told staff that he wanted them to sell the drugs for 3,000 baht and give the money to people in flood-hit areas in eastern Thailand.
Mr Phawat said police later arrested the man after the drugs were examined and confirmed as authentic. Police also found a home-made pistol and five rounds of .38 ammunition in his possesson.
Police said Mr Jakarerk admitted he had previously been arrested on drug charges in Rayong. He said he had been delivering drugs from Map Ta Phut industrial estate in Rayong for more than three years.
"I want to do good deeds and help people," Mr Jakarerk said. "I took five yaba pills before coming here."
