Khunying Porntip Narongdej dies

Khunying Porntip Narongdej died of heart failure on Wednesday. She was 67. The funeral ceremony for the founder of KPN Group will be held on Thursday at Narongdej Residence in Soi Sukhumvit 49 for seven days before her body is moved to a burial site in Pattaya.

Khunying Porntip was a renowned business-woman who played a key role at Siam Motors before starting KPN, which is now run by her son Kris.

Old Thailand hands will have heard of this family, particularly her late father. My late Thai wife was also related to the family.
Any golfers who have played at Siam Country Club in Pattaya will have noticed the monument off to the right hand side of the road out to the golf club. That was built by her late father, K.Pornphrapha for one of his wives, and the golf course is still owned by the family.
