This articel seems very misleading (curious about the source). Firstly, some of those pics are not of the market (first left after the main one). Secondly, it is the smaller of the two. I've never seen the type of watercraft described or a live show. My daughters dance on stage at the main one on 112 every weekend (Fri, Sat and Sun) along with some Thai 'fight dances'. They DO have pedalos, paddle boats and even a deisel driven 'passenger ferry'. Most main activities are held there. Recently, the mayor had a party there, last weekend, it hosted a sort of motocross rally with cars competing in a vague figure of 8 race.

I think the article should be completely ignored (unless someone knows better)

HHTel, I took the photos personally, so I'd like to know where I was when I took them :? The photos were taken yesterday afternoon. I haven't knowingly mislead with the information posted, but I'd be grateful if you could advise any errors, so that I can correct them.

I've never seen ... a live show.
I'm afraid I have seen such a thing at Sam Pan Naam.
There is a hut in the pond and out of it comes some Thai dancers, there must be some sort of underwater platform as they walk on the water about ankle deep, they then proceed to do a Thai dance and then walk back in to the hut.

Once seen never forgotten, sadly.

Okay, guys,
Looks like I'm going to have to eat humble pie. I haven't been to that market for about a year and I don't remember the lake being that big. I do remember the black swans and the 'swan boats' but it must have changed somewhat as I've never seen any live shows and I was there at least twice a week early in the year. The reason was that my mother liked it and she couldn't handle the bridges at the main one. If all those pics were from that market then I humbly apologise.
I do spend almost every weekend at the other market and they do have all the attractions you mentioned (although no elephants, only sheep!!)
We did go to this market very briefly a couple of weeks ago to collect some of the band's equipment as they had storage there. Couldn't get there for the mud and had to turn back.

Once again, apologies, as I've obviously got it wrong.

Seems I was wrong on all counts. Sam Phan Nam does indeed cover a much larger area although Hua Hin Market 'appears' bigger.

It does indeed advertise cultural shows etc along with boat tours, although Hua Hin Market advertises elephant shows which I know to be untrue. The info I can find does say that they are both 'man-made' lakes. The one on 112 certainly is as I watched it being built. I can't say the same for Sam Phan Nam.

I'm going to sulk now. I hate being wrong.....!

I don't remember the lake being that big
Panoramic photography often gives that illusion.
I've never seen any live shows
I've only seen the show in the middle of the lake once, but it was quite a spectacle, and definitely worth watching. It looked as though they were getting ready for a show yesterday, but we were on a tight schedule and couldn't wait. All of the young girls were on the little island in their costumes.

Were they dancing yesterday? The dancers we saw were very good
I'm going to sulk now.
Don't do that, life's too short :D If I sulked everytime I was wrong, I'd probably be in an institution suffering from depression

The Hua Hin Floating Market in Prachuap Khiri Khan was on fire for over an hour on Saturday night.

Reports said the tourist attraction, the Hua Hin Sam Phan Nam Floating Market, was on fire for an hour. Ten wooden shops, selling souvenirs, food, and drinks, were all burned. As the structure was a Thai traditional wooden building, the fire spread quickly.

It took firefighters over one hour to put off the blaze. It was reported that the smoke were seen at around 8.30 p.m., when the market was already closed. The floating market usually closes at 7.30 p.m. and visitors and shop keepers would all leave at 8 p.m.

One of the souvenir shops sold lighters and gas lighter guns, which made the fire spread faster. Officials have been inspecting the area for the cause of fire and assessing the damage.

Yes, BB, they were dancing yesterday. 2 of the dance group are my daughters so I claim part ownership of the troupe....lol.

They've been very busy the last 2 weekends. Fri, Sat and Sunday at the floating Market at lunchtime. Sat and Sun performing for weddings at Dusit and Pranburi. (Have to get them up at 5am!!!) Tonight dancing at Hua Hin School. Their schedule is getting very busy and guess who the unpaid taxi-driver is???

Glad you liked it. They're there every weekend at 12:30 and 2:00

I'm not working for the troupe, just dropping off and picking up my daughters. Even with the ridiculous laws in place, I doubt whether I can be done for transporting my family...... but who knows!
