3 Wheel Honda Gyro

Post by HHCanuck »

Has anyone had experience with them small 3 wheel Honda Gyro's. My wife and I are thinking about purchasing one for the mother -in -law as she has a bad leg and can't ride her scooter anymore. How stable are they? I seen one for sale at a bicycle shop but the owner tried to convince us to buy the new electric 3 wheeler instead saying the Honda isn't stable (thought stability was it's selling point). The electric 3 wheeler is however slow and has limited range so I'm not keen on it.

There was a link in an earlier thread that may be useful.

I rode a very clapped out one a week ago and I'm not sure it was functioning properly, but it scared the hell out of me even at slow speeds! It wasn't any more stable than a normal scooter and like riding a trike the steering was 'odd' and pulled left or right depending on which way you leant. I was all for getting one and putting big ATB wheels on it to butch it up a bit, but not so keen now!
Enjoying 'Retirement'....So many jobs to do, I don't know how I ever had time to work!

Some years ago a friend of mine, who unlike me is a very experienced bike rider, tried an old one and said the same thing, whatever made it stable when new seemed to be worn out. He was also thinking of buying one for an elderly family member.
