Where to buy a nice but not expenisve custom tailored suit?

Ok. I've been living here a while; eating better. Exercising regularly and dropped a few pounds, toned up a bit.

Does anyone one know of a good tailor? I'm always greeted by the "Happy Guys" , you know , the ones who hawk outside their shops and try to draw people into their shops. But this doesn't guarantee that they won't sew (or contract the construction to a third party) a suit that makes me look like a bozo.

One guy had a price board that read 2,200 baht for a suit, but quoted me 4,500 once I picked out the fabric I wanted.

Have you had any good experiences in getting a nicely made but not expensive custom tailored suit?
