These charges are the crime. Former PM Abhisit is not a murderer. These false charges are a disgrace to the Thai government.
Abhisit has plenty of money and could have fled Thailand just as Thaksin has, but Abhisit is staring the death penalty directly in the eye and not running. Thaksin, however, fled Thailand facing only two years.

Abhisit charged with Murder
Re: Abhisit charged with Murder
The charges are a sad reflection on the Thai people, not only the government. If just some of the slimeballs that dreamt this up were to put half the effort into taking care of the country instead of themselves, then there would not be the situation that exists now...................These charges are the crime. You're right but the real slimeball is still leading the protest and has not been arrested. Perhaps the MIB are having problems finding him in the diminishing crowd of protestorsNereus wrote:The charges are a sad reflection on the Thai people, not only the government. Re: Abhisit charged with Murder
What made me chuckle about how farcical this is was that Suthep's lawyer went to court with Abhisit and said he was too busy to attend.
I guess this trivial nuisance of treason charges are an affront to his schedule..........
Quote from the BBK Post article about it all.......
"Mr Suthep, leader of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), did not attend court. He asked his lawyer Jessada Anucharee to file a request to postpone his indictment, saying that he is busy leading the ongoing PDRC protest."

Absolute joke ... did Toxin ever get charged for the extrajudicial killing of 2500 people or the atrocity that cased 79 to die of suffocation in the south?

Re: Abhisit charged with Murder
Of course it's doubtful that Mark Abhisit was directly responsible for the shooting of any of the protesters who were shot in the back of the head as they were fleeing from the army. But as an old Etonian Mark would be familiar with the saying "Someone's got to get a thrashing old boy,so it might as well be you.."In 2010 the Red Shirt protesters occupied downtown Bangkok for months. Abhisit's government approved the use of live ammunition under limited conditions and deployed sharpshooters during the demonstrations. He has denied the charges against him.

You are absolutely correct.
Personally I couldn't care less about Mr. T and his corruption conviction, but I have long since said that he should be thrown into court for crimes against humanity. He was at the helm when his gang of pistol slinging fools were having a ball, so he should be held responsible. And after the court case, he should be dumped naked in the center of Yala or somewhere down there.
I actually just read a Bangkok Post article about this:

Re: Abhisit charged with Murder
I will never understand the politics or many other things of Thailand. I even have a nephew here in Canada that seems to think that Mr. T is an okay guy, 555. I asked my nephew if maybe Ms. T
or Mr. T had a hand in trying to smear Mr. Abhisits name, and are involved with this latest
charge. I am hoping that the caretaker government bows out and lets a peoples group run the
government until the next elections. I just hope that the country has a better government in the future. The best I can hope for is Chok Dee to all, Good Luck.

Re: Abhisit charged with Murder
I can't see the government bowing out without it resulting in trouble from the reds. People are, in my opinion, brainwashed with regards to democracy. What is actually democratic about democracy other than people having a right to vote. Once your vote is cast, your say in matters comes to an abrupt end. Governments then have the right to control you as they see fit - read your emails; listen to your phone calls; tell you what you can or cannot eat; tell you when you have to be in bed; etc; etc; etc. I certainly don't see "democracy" as a symbol of freedom.
In Thailand democracy is also stuck between a rock and a hard place. Mr. T's camp will continue winning elections unless another party can offer the rural poor even more policies which are in their favor. As harsh as it might sound, there are countless thousands in this country who are only concerned about themselves. The well known and very obvious "me first" attitude that we witness each and every day. This attitude is present throughout the kingdom regardless of wealth or education, and I think it's largely to blame for the political mess in the country.
Maybe they should devise a voting system based of the population count of each province. Not sure how to explain what I mean, but if I'm not mistaken, I think Singapore has something similar.
South Africa is locked in a similar situation, but instead of a class divide, there's a racial divide. Black South Africans will continue to vote for the ANC, even though the ANC has failed to rule the country successfully. The country is in a mess, but the uneducated poor continue to believe promises which never materialize, and their vote gets secured by handouts, exactly as is happening here.
The rice scheme is a prime example. On the surface, it seems like a genuine move to help the poor, but in reality it has done nothing to reduce poverty. That old Thai lady picking rice is just as poor today as she was 10 years ago. Fair enough, a few middle men have new cars now but that's where it ends. Nevertheless, it's a policy which is supposedly in place for the poor, so it wins votes. I wonder who the rice farmers would vote for if the democrats promised each rice farmer a new pickup to use on their farms.

This is a problem with democracy in general and it's not limited to Thailand.Takiap wrote:As harsh as it might sound, there are countless thousands in this country who are only concerned about themselves.
Who seriously ever goes to the polls thinking "I better vote for these guys; I'll be worse off for it but the country as a whole will improve"?
