Warning Motorcycle Shop Across from Soi 56

Post by HHCanuck »

Had a bad experience today at the motorcycle repair and accessories shop across from soi 56. I went there based on a recommendation from another HHF thread of a place to get new shocks for my PCX. Honestly paying way too much is my fault I should have known better and looked up the price first they burnt me for 1000 Baht extra on some YSS G-Plus shocks. To add insult to injury the mechanic scratched the plastic and muffler on my bike trying to pry up the shock. No point complaining from experience it will achieve nothing so I though a reminder to fellow expats to check prices online and keep a close eye on work so they don't damage your bike will suffice.

So what did you finally pay? How has it made a difference to your ride, handling? Is this for a PCX150? Thanks.
I wouldn't have to manage my anger if people could learn to mange their stupidity!

Yes PCX150 the shocks cost me 4900 Baht can buy them in Bangkok from 3700 Baht but installed from a shop about 4000 Baht. Can really feel the difference especially going over speed bumps. They are adjustable gas shocks.

Thanks for the update, pretty much everything you buy in Hua Hin has a 'premium' attached to it and will be slightly more expensive than in a regular town.

Yes, the same thought occurred to me. It would be more relevant to compare their price with other HH m/c mechanics before assuming you've been ripped off.

35% above retail is not Hua Hin premium especially for motorcycle parts.
