HM looks quite well. Nice to see him out and about.

Well I wonder what he made of it all? That's if he was allowed to see the literally dozens of stray dogs hanging around on the street right outside the shelter.

We seen the King on the Thai TV channel that we get here in Canada, He looks in good health.
The air quality in Hua Hin area certainly is better than in BKK.
We were all happy to see him out and about and enjoying himself.

They have all been given a holiday in Korea.Big Boy wrote:I was up that way today, and the place was empty - not a dog to be seen

I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Guess they did a big clean up before the Royal visit then. Give it a matter of weeks before the streets are littered again.Big Boy wrote:I was up that way today, and the place was empty - not a dog to be seen

His Majesty the King yesterday - April 8 - donated 10 million baht to the Municipality of Hua Hin in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, to support its full-cycle management of the stray dog problem.
The money was presented to the municipality in a ceremony held at the Klai Kangwon Palace office in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan, by Grand Chamberlain Distorn Vajarodaya, who is also deputy secretary general of the Hua Hin Dog Shelter Foundation under the Royal Patronage.
Mr. Nopporn Vudhikul, Mayor of Hua Hin said upon receiving the money that the municipality would spend the royal donation on securing permanent places for stray dogs as well as providing them with sufficient food, necessary vaccinations and care for sick dogs.
He said the project to take care of stray dogs is very useful as Hua Hin is a major tourist site while the project itself has drawn interest from dog lovers who come to visit the Hua Hin Dog Shelter on a constant basis. He said His Majesty the King intended to make the Hua Hin Dog Shelter a model of full-cycle management of the stray dog problem.

I hope His Majesty asks for a full accounting for the 10 mil there seems to be more dogs than people where I live off the top of Soi 112
Re: King visits royal stray dogs shelter in Hua Hin
Yes this is pretty sad news... I suspect very little of that 10 million will ever be used in any kind of constructive manner...

Accountability is not in the Thai vocabulary. If it were, much would be different.eatuae wrote:I hope His Majesty asks for a full accounting for the 10 mil there seems to be more dogs than people where I live off the top of Soi 112
A very generous gesture by the King, tough.
Issuing dog hunting licenses and shotguns would be a more efficient cure, and much faster and cheaper.
