Three Girls Drown, Fourth at Risk: Horror Day at Cha-Am Beach for Holiday

PHUKET: Three 18-year-old girls have drowned and a fourth is at high risk after a disastrous day at the beach in Cha-Am for local business and technology students.

A large wave about 2.50pm swept a total of nine students off their feet and in to deeper waters, where they cried for help.

Other students called for help from the beach and eventually, all nine were brought to shore.

One girl, aged 18, died in an ambulance and two more succumbed after reaching Cha-Am Hospital. A fourth young student, also 18, remains in the hospital's intensive care unit.

Five more have been admitted to Cha-Am Hospital or to Hua Hin Hospital.

About 270 college students set out today to mark their graduation with a picnic at the beach.

Cha-Am is a popular traditional beach resort on the Gulf of Thailand, close to Hua Hin.

A horryfying story. Doesn't youth learn to swim? Doesn't anybody know about resurection of drowning victims? No first-aid quipment on the shores, no knowledge of first aid and resurection in ambulances or emergency wards? Apparently not.
What an unneccessary loss of young life.

As Witnessed by myself and Big boy at Cha Am beach pissed up teenagers most in school uniform sat all afternoon one girl was paralytic and had to be carried to a deck chair where she was slumped for a couple of hours.

This girls so called friends were trying to get her on a banana ride a few minuets before she passed out.

Lung just realise nothing in Thailand really makes a whole lot of sense that's why it's so fascinating and yes stupid in a lot of respects.
