I live about 75 km from Hua Hin and I was in Hua Hin several months ago for the large fireworks display. After several beers while watching the fireworks, I took a stroll around the beach area and my clouded memory recalls walking by the Hilton and the Brewing Co. I recall they had some sort of sign out front about their beer but I don't recall seeing prices, etc. So, do any of you Hua Hin regulars have any information to share about the quality and price of the beer at this brewery? I did a google search but found no detailed information regarding their beer menu or prices.
I'm hoping they have a really good IPA.

Re: Hua Hin Brewing Question
The last time I drank there I had a pint of the Elephant tusk lager (think that it what it was called), the dark one. Personally it tasted awful but I have had better there before. I was assured by the staff that they don't actually brew beer in Hua Hin, it comes up from Phuket.

I also believe it was about 260 baht a pint.

Re: Hua Hin Brewing Question
A critical point about brew pubs is that they must have a steady high volume trade. Because of the lack of preservatives ( a great plus) once tapped it needs to be sold quickly, ideally in 48 hours.
The Hilton brew pub has never caught on so slow sales means sour beer, means even slower sales, a vicious circle,
The place is dark, windowless and has no charm.

There's nowhere in HH that you'll get draught IPA although you can find some decent bottled beers including Fullers London Pride and ESB.patekatek wrote:I live about 75 km from Hua Hin and I was in Hua Hin several months ago for the large fireworks display. Re: Hua Hin Brewing Question
After reading your much appreciated responses, I will not waste my time and money at this place. I am a club member at a micro brew bar in Minneapolis called the Town Hall Brewery which has taken several medals at the Beer Fest in Colorado. We also have Summit Brewery in St. Paul, MN. which markets some really fine beers. So, I have had my beer palate spoiled by good beer. I thank everyone from saving me from experiencing the expensive and inferior beer of the Hua Hin Brewery.

I only used the SOS bar at the front of the Hilton, it is outside mostly and is a nice place to drink and watch the world go by. The pub (inside) does not sell the pints of draft beer (again as advised by the staff) and is really a pick up joint late at night although quiter early evening. The SOS bar is a nice place to drink but is not cheap.oakdale160 wrote:A critical point about brew pubs is that they must have a steady high volume trade.
