is it possible to open bank account in hh from the uk as i would like to tranfer money to make final payment for house in april

Nope, you have to be there in person. If you need to get money to Thailand and don't need your own account, then BKK Bank in London is very helpful. But if you want your own account, you have to go to the branch in HH.

The SCB offer a " Foreign Currency Deposit Account (Non-Resident Account) " which I thought I may be able to open from the UK, but as above, I can't.

I'm intending to open this when I'm there in April.

Does anyone have any views on this compared to other options? It seems a reasonable deal to me.
