Certificate of residency for Non '0' from the Amphur

Post by usual suspect »

Did I read on the forum a while back that when applying for a Non Imm 0 visa back in the U.K. the embassy now need a letter/cetificate proving your 'place of stay' while in the Kingdom..?
Well seen as I may have to go back to Blighty soon I'm thinking this 'letter' better be in my bag).
I'm sure someone on here had been along to HH Amphur here in town & I would presume the man's Thai wife/lady went also, & on submitting the 'house book' & possibly signing something..the needy
document was given there & then..? (At a fee of about 60B).
Can anyone enlighten me further?..for instance do I need to go to HH Immigration 1st for one of their forms?..Is the letter I'm getting from the Amphur same-same as the one the Imm will issue me, but at 1% of the price HH Imm would no doubt charge me..?
Any constructive info on this would be great thanks.. U.S.

As I will be going back to the UK fairly soon and applying for a new non immigrant "O" visa I had a look at the Thai Consulate websites for Birmingham my nearest - and the main Consulate in London. I copied these requirements from the London website.

Non-Immigrant Type O
Birth Certificate (applicant's child)
Certificate of Marriage or its equivalents (if married to Thai national)
a copy of marriage certificate and passport or Thai ID of spouse and (3 months bank statement showing monthly income of more than £1,400 anuually.)
An official recommendation letter from organization perform voluntary job in Thailand (for volunteer job)
Pension statement if the applicant is a pension earner.

Non-Immigrant Type O-A
Proof of income with a minimum of £1,400.00 per month or £1,400.00 or £16,500 anuually for those who have been issue category O with multiple entries
Medical Record
Criminal Record check

There was no mention of proof of address in Thailand - I normally send a copy of my yellow book anyway.

One thing I noticed that had changed was that postal applications could only be made at the London Consulate - otherwise you have to visit your nearest consulate in person, which is now a pain as they can't process same day applications because approval can only be granted from the London consulate.
