It doesn't specify where though. Is there a particular spot where silt has made it so shallow that vessels can't pass? That kind of work makes a mess of sea water quality so hopefully away from the popular beaches. Pete

Excuse me for being ignorant but why would they dredge the seafront?
Re: B3bn for dredging rivers, seafronts
It has to be because of a clogged shipping channel, local fishing boats bottoming out, or they want to adjust the way the surf is hitting and erroding the beaches. One or all three I guess....take your pick. Pete

What about the rumoured Deep Water Marina that was proposed fro Khao Ta Keab?
I wouldn't have to manage my anger if people could learn to mange their stupidity!

Along with improving the sea defences it can also be a way of artificially increasing the size of the beach.

^ They should be doing it in Pattaya then. The beach along Beach Road at high tide barely exists. One strip of sand where one can fit one beach towel with your back up against the sea wall.
The current solution is to mine sand from Rayong and dump thousands of tons of it into the sea. It's ongoing and shown some progress....but I'm sure the next big storm will wash it all away and the money spent.
Why dredging isn't considered I don't know. What's happening now is a pre-army deal so perhaps it will change when they catch on it's a useless exercise for a long term fix. Pete

The upside of a larger beach would be that more beach traders could be given a permit

They probably mean dredging harbors. It's considered good maintenance to dredge before vessels can't pass.prcscct wrote:...
