More of a funny story than anything..
I was riding my little yamaha scooter north on the main drag , with out my helmet. the cops were standing right out in front of the station and waved me in..and spoke enough english to tell me I was being fined 200 bht for not not wearing my helmet. all i had was 1000 bht notes, but he wouldnt give me change. I managed to dig up enough in change and small notes to pay the 200bht. The funny part of the story was all the Thai cops practising their english with me, and when their lunch was delivered to the station, they gave me one, plus a bottle of water. So, I payed the 200bht, had a free lunch and water, and a fun conversation....only in Thailand!!

Good for you na... It's good to hear stories like that. And it's goodna that polices are giving fast "lottery" tickets cos we have only one life...

I would bet that as you were there talking to the police, a 100 plus Thai's rode past, without helmets and not one of them was stopped or fined.

But as they say life's to short.
