Bonus for traffic cops who reject bribes

Post by PeteC »

What do you think about this one? Will the MIB invent offenses and then subsequently invent that a bribe was offered? Will they seem receptive/elicit a normal bribe, then turn the tables and entrap/arrest the person? Will each be walking around with a CCTV strapped to them to prove their allegations, or prove that the motorist was set up? I see problems with this one.

Anyone with a GoPro in their car, turn it on without fail if stopped!! I'm sure this plan will spread to the provinces in due course. Pete

Another cunning plan to extract money in these less than prudent times for the MIB. :banghead:

??

Rather than busting the cops who DO accept a bribe!

Probably wouldn't be many left if they did it that way and that would not be all bad. Indeed, maybe all good.

The reward is given to an officer who arrests a motorist offering a bribe!!
I don't think I've heard of a bribe being 'offered' as it's always the cop that demands the bribe.
I think the reward should go to the motorist who can prove the officer demanded a bribe. Get your dashcams at the ready.

Slightly off topic, but there seems to be far too many police than is actually needed, they could halve the number of police, pay them double their salary at no extra cost, the police would be much better motivated to do their job properly and would not need to resort to taking bribes to make a living. Of course it will not happen, but would surely sort out much of the problems that they currently face.

Backed off already realizing that it would be impossible...

"Metropolitan police chief suspends project to catch traffic bribers
October 12, 2014 3:35 pm
Acting Metropolitan Police chief Pol Maj Gen Sriwara Rangsipramkul said he had ordered the Traffic Police Division to suspend the campaign to give Bt10,000 reward to police officers who can catch motorists bribing them.
Sriwara said the campaign violated the people's rights and he would demand deputy Metropolitan police chief Poj Maj Gen Adul Narongsak, who initiated the campaign, to explain his reason behind the campaign."

Wait. What? It "violates the people's rights..."?

What rights? The right to bribe a police officer?

It was just a means to up the anti for the corrupt policman, as far as I could see.

They had to dispose of this scheme, it was a smoking gun waiting to go off.

It wouldn't be long before a video appeared on Youtube of a policeman, who after enticing an on the spot donation, to then ask for a lot more or be arrested for trying to bribe him, after all he could get 10K if he arrested the 'victim' who could also pay a big fine and spend a lot of time at the police station.

Who is going to bank roll the 10 k for each attempted and convicted briber to the god fearing MIB who arrests them?

Unfortunately Dannie by halving the amount of officers, that would mean, that those high ranking officers further up the food chain will get a lot less of the money these "fines" bring in.

Internal fighting going on. Below is an article dated today at 1447 hours saying another general says the plan will work and the reward goes both ways depending upon who squeals on who.

HHF's article indicates a Major General cancelled the thing. Below says a regular General (I guess) has come up with this new idea. Keystone cops on the loose!

I realise that that won't be able to cream off their slice of the "fines" but they could still double their salary, still as I mentioned in my original post, I'm sure it won't happen.
