How to get a scooter from Hua Hin to BKK

Post by Ajarn Nick »

Dear all,
does anybody have a nice idea how I could get my scooter (Honda Click 125) from HH to BKK? I once transported it from south Thailand to HH by train, which was ok, though, it seems a bit too cumbersome for the short distance.

Can I take it with me with a regular bus in the storage space? Would it actually be high enough? Did anybody try that before?

Or does anybody drive the way with his pickup anyway and wants some paid payload? (500฿ ?)

If I won't find an easy solution, I guess I'll just ride the vehicle by myself. Shouldn't take more than 4 or 5 hours, but the seat starts to feel as hard as concrete after an hour or so.

Cheers

You can also use the post office to transport motorcycles.

I agree with Buksida. Have seen it done for a decent cost with a brand new scoooter arriving in perfect condition in Yasothon. The post office even supplied packing material like tape, cardboard and bubble wrap, but better check if they still do.

Thanks for the hints. Postal service seems to be a reasonable option indeed. Will go and ask them for details. Presume that the train option is faster though, since you can take the same train and get your bike as soon as the train arrives. I'll update when I got more info.

My nephew had a bike sent from Isaan a couple of weeks ago. I think it took 3 days.

A mate just sent a cycle up to Chaing Mai with the post office..the cost was 500B..but the cycle went into one of the P/O's own crates that they use for motorcycles..my point of this story was that the process was quite hassle-free..state name & address,(fill in forms, pay fee..job done.
