Thai Extension Cords, Plugs, Sockets, Wiring

Post by Lung Per »

I am sick and tired of the cheap chinese-made extension cords, distribution boxes, plugs and sockets you get here. I have in some instances used the two-pin European standard plugs which work fine until you need a Thai adapter for the wall plug or the box. It is my experience that the stuff you buy in the stores here is unreliable, connecting poorly, and quite often below capacity for 220 volts and just a few amps. The inside metal is very thin and not copper and the plugs are the same as used in the U.S.A. for 110 volts.

Question: Where may one buy solid, durable household-type (220volt up to 6 amps) extension cords and related equipment that correspond to European (German/Scandinavian) standards.

Yes - I know. The word "durable" may not exist in the Thai vocabulary.

Watsadu do more expensive better quality leads and I believe you can also get them in home pro. Standard Chinese ones ar less than 200 baht in Tesco etc, the better ones are more like 500+ and I think can also be found in Tesco MV.

Or try the computer shops as they tend to have better stuff.
