Another death of a European on Koh Tao

Post by oakdale160 »

An apparent suicide, a French man. The only thing that is confusing is that his hands were tied behind his back and some people are doubting the police conclusion. Come on its obvious. He decides to finish it all. Sets up the noose with a chair underneath it. Goes to his local bar and says--I'm into a little bondage tonight , could somebody please tie my hands behind my back, Goes home--head in noose. kicks away chair--Case solved.

RIP mom ami--you deserve better.

Do you have a reliable source for this information please, before I decide where to move it?

It's reported in the Samui Times and on the Burma Democracy website (with pics) as well as Andrew Drummond.

It's also 'claimed' that he was a witness to the Koh Tao murders!

The photos certainly look like his hands were tied.

1st of January 2015 police and rescue teams were called to a bungalow on Koh Tao where the body of a 29 year old French man was found hanging from the ceiling of his rented bungalow. Suspicions arose over what appeared to be a suicide when on further inspection it was discovered the man’s hands were tied behind his back. Wounds were discovered around the man’s neck as well as two 5cm lacerations to his arm, one near his wrist the second near to his elbow. It is thought the man had been dead for around two hours.

The door to the man’s bungalow, later identified as Dmitri, was open and there was no sign of a struggle. Police and rescue workers found a note on the man’s bed that suggested a recent love affair may have come to an end and that the man recently lost one of his grandparents.

There is something very strange about this story. It's not mentioned anywhere in the Bangkok Post or international media. The Samui Times website appears to have been taken down although it's still reported on there facebook page.

Very Strange!

This story certainly IS strange. . .I have never heard of a door called "Dmitri".
Is the naming of bungalow doors after Russians some kind of new tourist ploy down there?

A little too flippant if the story is true.

Finally made it into mainstream media though nothing in the Post or Nation yet - maybe the Junta have told them not to report anything negative!

French tourist found hanged in Koh Tao
A French tourist was found hanged at a bungalow in Koh Tao island on Thursday.

Although the man left a message suggesting he might take his own life, but question arose how could he hang himself with both hands tied to the back.

Koh Tao police said they were alerted around 3 pm on January 1 and rushed to a bungalow on Koh Tao where the body of a 29 year old French man was found hanging from the ceiling of his rented bungalow.

Suspicions arose over what appeared to be a suicide when on further inspection it was discovered the man’s hands were tied behind his back.

Wounds were discovered around the man’s neck as well as two 5 cm lacerations to his arm, one near his wrist, and the second near to his elbow.

It is thought the man had been dead for around two hours.

The door to the man’s bungalow with the word “Dmitri”, on it was open and there was no sign of a struggle.

Police and rescue workers found a note on the man’s bed that suggested a recent love affair may have come to an end and that the man recently lost one of his grandparent.

However questions are being asked as to how it is possible for anybody to commit suicide with their hands tied behind their back.

An autopsy is expected to reveal whether or not that man was drugged.

This makes more sense. . .but Frenchmen are named Pierre or Jean. . . not Dmitri. The mystery deepens.
Sorry for the guy whatever the circumstances. RIP

Maybe he was staying in a hut previously occupied by Dmitri? I think the bigger issue is hanging with his hands tied behind his back!

Maybe another nail in the coffin of Thai Social Media. It seems that even though news is suppressed, its all over social media again.

Another death, this time by a Dane, who reportedly fell off the balcony from the 18th floor. I don't know the circumstances around his "fall", but the situation sounds familiar. Perhaps katoys, perpahs others turned him over.

Seen nothing in the major media. I learned about it from a Danish newspaper a couple of days ago. I filed a report, in Danish, in the Nordic section.

It is very possible that powers from above wish to supress this kind of news Doesn't give Thailand a good reputation.

MODS:

There seems to be an increasing number of "unexplained" deaths among farang residents and tourists in Thailand.
Would it be an idea to have a separate group to discuss this - could be named
something neutral as "deaths by accident" - for reasons I should not need to explain. Would that be kosher?
