Will BKK Imm give me a 15 day stamp if I ask for one?

Post by uncle tom »

Why, you might ask, would I want this?

The reason is that I am aware of the 90 day cumulative limit for tourist stamps in any six month period.

In the last six months I have made one visit of 28 days and one of 29 days and was planning to go back home at the end of my third visit which is scheduled to be 24 days - a total of 81 days.

But now I need to fly back home for a funeral which will cut this third trip to just 8 days.

This will bring my total for the three trips to 65 days, so a 30 day stamp on my return would take me over the 90 day threshold. On the other hand, as the funeral will take me out of the country for two days, a 15 day stamp would be just sufficient for my needs and would not take me over the limit.

Anyone know how BKK handle this?
I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly...

I don't think you have a problem. The 90 days in any 6 months was an old rule. A 30 day 'visa exempt' stamp can be extended for a further 30 days at immigration. What the authorities are looking for are 'tourists' who do back-to-back 30 day stamps in order to spend a continuous length of time in Thailand and as I read it, that's not you.
Of course, you could get a Tourist Visa of 60 days and with multiple entry that will give you longer and that can also be extended for 30 days.
