PTT adds Texas Chicken to its portfolio

Post by dozer »

PTT, Thailand's energy giant, is adding U.S. chain Texas Chicken to its business portfolio in a master franchise deal to boost non-fuel revenue in the wake of falling pump prices.

Texas Chicken, known as Church's Chicken in the Americas, will be the first global fast food brand to be added in PTT's non-energy business portfolio. The state-owned company already has original brands Amazon coffee shops and Jiffy convenience stores, and Daddy Dough, a local doughnut chain.

"Non-oil business might not have high sales revenue compared to petroleum business but it has better margins," Sarun Rangkasiri, chief operating officer of PTT's downstream petroleum business group, told reporters in Bangkok on Friday. Non-oil business currently accounts for 20% of PTT's turnover.

While PTT's service station network is Thailand's largest by far, a shopping mall presence is vital to brand recognition. PTT plans to have 70 Texas Chicken stores running after five years, half on PTT forecourts and the rest in malls.

Fatter margins on fried chicken than gas

Hmm will be interesting. Churchs used to be pretty common here in Southern California, but over the years disappeared and now seems to be relegated to the inner city, poor areas, mainly Black residents.

Always found it to be too greasy for my liking

I've found a chicken chain here that puts all others to shame... never seen it before but there are two locations (soon to be 3) in the city where I live and I think it should be a national (or international) chain. I'd certainly like to own a franchise as it is extremely popular and always busy. If you ever see one, do yourself a favor and try it! It's called Viva Chicken and it's chicken dishes done Peruvian style.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

A few Peruvian restaurants by me (not that chain though). I've found Peruvian food excellent, chicken, seafood and their sauces great!
