The short answer is no, but I was told (years ago) they you could if you could demonstrate a need to own one. Not sure what that need would be unless it was related to employment, like private security or private investigation maybe.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I know an English bloke that lives on some leased land out in the sticks of Kanchanaburi. The police came around to see him and INSISTED that he obtain a firearm. They arranged the licence, but not sure if it in his name as I think that he has a live-in Thai "friend", although he did say that it was. So I guess that it is the same story as many other things here.
Either that, or marry a Thai lady cop!
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!
You don't need one here and that's one of the good things one can put in the plus column for this place. Probably only other Americans here would appreciate that. Furthermore having a gun in the house with a Thai wife or girlfriend is a bad idea and if you had to shoot a Thai for a good reason, you'd still get screwed by the Thai police somehow.
"For foreigners, if you want to buy a gun, you must have a work permit in Thailand, you must have a house registration in Thailand, and you also need to have a check of your criminal record.

Agreed. I still miss going to the target range, collecting, and repairing them.
There is a range near Cha'am but at 400B for 10 rounds plus firearm rental, its just not worth it.
Actually yes.....you can if you know the right people and have the money etc. I know of 2 farang that have firearms licenses.....both have a Glock pistol and shoot at the local cop/army range.
If the firearm were used ONLY for hobby/sport, it would be a great idea. Problem is, how does the Government ensure the use is limited to that purpose?
