Favorite seafood restaurants on the pier?

Post by Roppongi »

Hi, of all those seafood restaurants on the pier what would you rate the best in terms of food and ambiance (and how do you identify it as many look the same)?

Did not go to any on the pier in the centre of HH, but did go to some at the far end of the beach where the Big Buddah and Monkey Mountain is located (Koh Takiab).

Great seafood and Thai food in both the Rua Rimtarn (which is a boat parked on the land where the fishing village is). There are great views for lunch or early dinner, if it is a hot day, you must sit up on the top deck.

The cafe/bar at the bottom of the steps where the big buddah and monkey mountain is in Koh Takiab is also highly recommended.
Do not be put off by the look of it, while we were there, a lot of well to do people came and ate there. They were more dressed to be eating in a 5star place not a beach place on the sand, where everyone else was dressed in beach clothes. I could only put their visit down to the quality of the food.

You can get a taxi or bus to Koh Takiab village and they are both very close to where you get off.

If you are feeling energetic, you can walk all the way down the beach (Appx 5kms). You can have a mini bar crawl on your way down to help work up a thirst and appetite and then taxi back.

if you walk down, you must stop at the Lets Sea Bar (is a bit more expensive than most of the others, but well worth it. The food is also very good in there.
If you are there around sunset, it is the most relaxing way to watch the amazing sunset.

Hope that helps and if you decide to visit, hope you have a great time.

Most of the restaurants along from the pier are good. I was at Chowlay yesterday lunchtime and it was as good as ever. A bit pricey, but worth it.
If you go at night, try to get there around 6pm as you'll have a good chance of getting a table as far out over the sea as possible.
You won't miss the sign.

Sawadee khrap

My favorite one is the "seaside inn".
Perfect food and very nice ambiente, good background-music.
Every holiday I m there for a great meal ;-)

I have always found Chomkluen to the right of Chowlay as you look out to sea to be excellent. I think that the standard of food at any of them is high due to the competition. They have to be good or people will go elsewhere.

Thanks for the tips.

Chelsea, good to hear Let's Sea is still around. Discovered it a few years back and made it our halfway stop during walks along the beach.

Perfect for a few ales or G&Ts while sitting in the rocking chair. Only complaint I had about it was the second time around their was a foul odor whaffling about.

Sang Thai (across the road from Buffalo Bills) is good as well, and seems to be a bit less pricey than Chowlay.

Its so hard to do, but I have a different view to Chelsea on a couple of the places he recommended.

At the end of the day, I think you have to try a place to decide if its for you.

The boat place, ate there 3 nights ago. Not impressed with either the service (lack of - "can we have some tissues to wipe our hands please") or quality of the food.

Lets Sea - around the corner from where I am staying. I can't odds the fact it looks great and has a great location right on the sea front, but at what price? Certainly doesn't equate to the value of the food. A bit to "posey" for my liking. But thats a personal thing.

The pier we like to eat at and the in-laws will be with us tomorrow, is Ketsaris (hope I spelt it right). A favourite of my (Thai) wife.

the best

Post by bill »

here's the scoop. Any web site where the greatest number of posts, from the locals, that talk about what kind of shit they take[soft, firm, liquid], leeds football and institunational racism of the freeken pool league should be dismissed on the grounds that they have had their collective heads in the stinken fishhead soup to long. Now the in place, known only to the "in people" and really kool Americans[hey, hey over here-that's me] is the fish dock in Cha-Am. I can feel the hh boys breathing fire[st. elmo's?] and getting their collective anal's ready to erupt. hh boy's hate Cha-Am and it's because of that incident with the ladyboy's, speedboat's and elephants. I say no more. Dr. D has all the dirty parts for a small fee. Go to Cha- am beach head north, take right fork in road go till you drive into ocean and your there. Great seafood. Tell them Willie from Chicago sent you and watch your bill shoot up to the gnp of Wales. love bill

I am presuming these seaffod places also have a good selection of `non-fish' dishes ?
