Multi entry visas

Post by tuktukmike »

Just had word from HOGUS in Manilla that they are not issuing anymore 1yr multi entry visas.

He was told this is being enforced across all Asian countries including India.

This sort of fits with what i have heard about Malasia.

And please before anyone jumps down my throat there is word that they may be scrapping the Back to Back tourist visas, ie ranong 30 day run.

Think we will all just have to sit tight and see what is going on out here.

Regardless of what anyone thinks i am not trying to scaremonger but Hogus will i think Fill us all in on his return friday, as for the people doing ranong runs this was something i was told from a good friend and cant confirm.

Mike.

I've certainly heard that Penang have become far more strict about issuing multi entries to first time applicants . However they were still doing so if you've had one before from there. The reason for this is that they viewed the multi entry as a way to get around the financial requirements for, say a "marriage visa". They'll issue you with a single entry Non O and then expect you to apply for the year's extension based on savings or income in Thailand. KL were still issuing the multi entries a short while ago, but anyone going anywhere for one should try to check on really up to date info before setting off. Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Singapore have been a problem for quite a while - "if you want one, go back to your home country".
The 30 day runs in Ranong is news to me. There have always been these rumours and I do know some people who, on their third consequetive 30 day run through Mae Sai up north, were told to go elsewhere next time. Reckon they just went to, say Nong Khai and then back to Mae Sai the following month.
It wasn't that long ago that there were rumours of having to show 10,000 B to return on a 30 day run. This certainly is in immigration law, but I'm yet to hear of any Westerner being asked.
I'm down in Ranong in a few days and know imm very well. I'll ask and repost.
