Have a really good friend needs advice, just wondered if anyone knew the procedure for the following circumstance:
Car bought in Pattaya (this may be important - not sure) and is registered there. Married couple (falang husband - thai wife) car bought in her name. Couple have been married and divorced (divorce papers cite the car as belonging to the husband). They now want to transfer the car out of her ownership, the husband is only on a tourist vias but has a number of friends who have offered to be the owner of the car (people with either a retirement visa or work permit).
Anyone got any advice on this one. Would be very much appreciated as i a have no experience of this.
Thanks all.
Transferring ownership of vehicle
Both parties need to go to the local licensing office (equivalent of DVLA) in Pattaya (or wherever the vehicle was licensed).
The new owner of the vehicle needs a Non-B visa, work permit and letter from the police confirming their residential address (bai rup long tee yuu asai). Both sign the forms and they will issue a new blue book for the car in a week or so. I think there is a small fee for it but can be sure.

Yes, that is important. Just because bought in Pattaya doesn't mean it has Chonburi Province plates on it. Make sure he or someone takes a look at the passa Thai below the numbers on the plate to make sure. If Chonburi, they can do the re-registering at any DMV office in Chonburi province, doesn't have to be Pattaya. They asked for mine when I did it, but it was a while back, things maybe different now.Wanderlust wrote: Are you sure about the non imm B and work permit bit?
