and buksi , its a poo hole too , cheesey thai bands fronted by mabee a beautifull chick ususaly talentless, playing unorigianal sets by over priverliged thai youth who think think they can play and sing but they dont have a clue know what people enjoy ,SORRY YOU MUPPETS I (we) DONT! enjoy songs about KETCHUP, OOO LA LAA MANGO ITAILANO , JUST NOT SUITABLE FOR ADULTS, TRY THE KINDERGARTEN THE under 4"s would find this entertaining. BASICLY PAY THROUGH THE NOSE AND FOR A NIGHT OF INTENSE BOREDOM AND EMPTY YOUR WALLET WITHIN HALF AN HOUR 4 SURE, the only reason theres a crowd in there is due the many young ladies that go on the pull and the the hilton having so much influence over the powers that be in the town and not allowing any competition within the city limits
(see you in jail for airing this veiw!! )(please bring me some clean under ware and food to bang kwai)

You know what to do guys - quit whinging and vote with your feet.........

If all their white farang male customers go elsewhere, I imagine the chicks will too. Why else would they be there in the first place if not to shake their ass at a few chaps ! And I would bet that damn cover charge would be rescinded prettty smartly once the Hilton management recognise that they have killed the geese that lay the golden eggs !

cover charge, wow, 120 might set you back. i hate covers also, but read the fine print, 120 cover includes free drink, ok, so a heiny cost 110 or 120, and no, it's not just for farangs, the wife (thai) also had to pay, and we entered seperatly, just to test if double priced.

i kind of enjoyed the place myself, and yes, the music left something to be desired, but we had a great time. they can sing and have a lot more energy than me. besides, after midnight, the choices are quite limited.

Hilton Cover

Post by 6 degrees »

Hi,

I have been going to the Hilton on a bi-nightly or weekly basis since coming to Hua Hin in April.

When i came in April, it had a nightly cover charge. However, in May in seemed to have changed to having a conver charge stricly on the weekends or for "special nights."

If you go on a weekday - you are safe there is no cover. And the HUGE clause here is that their cover never starts until after 11:00pm. A few nights I went at 10:57 and paid NO cover.

But the whole cover deal isnt really a deal at all because of the free drink. Regardless of whether or not you paid to enter, there is still the 110baht charge for a bottle.

Agreed, the band that used to play there was much better. The band that is currently there is really sad. But, they seem to be a push over with the local Thais because they play a lot of "old sckool" stuff.

They should leave the live band for the weekends only and have DJ for the other nights. That would be ideal instead of the 45/45min split that they are currently using.

It remains a good place to be pulled in. Yes, that's right. Often when I go I am more times than not the one that is getting pulled.... not vice versa. The quality of the girls remains pretty much around a 5-6 on the 1 - 10 scale. That is until about 12 or so when the bar girls empty into there. Then go running for cover.

Oh, anyone know care to post how much "taxi fee" they pay there? For those that don't know - many girls now ask if you will pay for their taxi home (ie. "how much taxi money will you give me?") It, of course, is their way of asking how much you are willing to pay for the shag. It seems to me to be about 1500 for the whole night. Less? More?

My insight.

Try Saxophone Bar

Post by dahobbit »

If you're looking for the music, not the shag, try the Saxophone Bar, next to the old/new Paradise, along the canal west of downtown. The band plays well, and they alternate female singers who can actually sing. No cover, pleasant decor. The band starts at 11:30. Prior to that it's solo guitar and Thai tunes.

120 B?
equals 2.42 Euros?

OMG that's expensive!

Yeah, right you get a normal drink around here you pay 5 Euros for it.
I remember bar nights I've spent waaaaay over 60 Euros for my drinks. That's 2880 B.

Haha, either I have a Guiness World Records booze head, or I'm fairly rich in Thailand :thumb:

Sorry for being so arrogant.
How much are the normal drinks there?

I'm with laphanphon, had many a fine night here during my stay though the quality of the bands and food was mediocre at best. never got asked to pay no cover charge and the manager bought us beers most nights. Even gave us a few T-shirt souvenirs.

I suppose it's what you make of it or one of those tourists vs. expat things.

Each to their own.

Get there before 10:00 and it's 2 for 1. The cover charge of 120 baht inlcudes a drink. Quit your bitchin' or go somewhere else. Problem is, not too many other places to go with a decent dance floor and dancing music.

The band, after you hear them once, sucks. Quite a let down even from the DJ's crap music when they come back from their all-too-frequent breaks.

Room for a decent dance/DJ pub in HH, IMO. Maybe something along Latin lines?

Charge?

Post by Groover »

Guys

Just back after a week in Hua Hin and was in the Hilton every night bar one after midnight and was not once asked for any form of cover charge. Am I right in presuming this practice has now stopped?

Town was fairly quiet and I mooched around a few spots mentioned on the board and even found the Petch Barber Diamond Pub that was mentioned as a massage with extras.

Supped a cold beer and, like every News of The World reporter, made my excuses and left when quoted Dh1800 baht for an hour.
