Uefa Women's Euro 2022

Post by PeteC »

They should ask Sarina Wiegman to coach the England men's team as well.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/61717253

The Women's Euro 2022 Championship starts on 6 July when hosts England take on Austria in front of a 73,200 sell-out crowd at Old Trafford (20:00 BST) - a match you can watch live on BBC One.

Sixteen teams - including debutants Northern Ireland and holders the Netherlands - will compete, with the final to be played at an 87,200 sell-out Wembley on 31 July.

More than 450,000 tickets for the tournament, which is being staged at 10 different venues across the country, have been sold so far.

All 31 matches will be shown live across the BBC.

It is the second time the whole tournament has been held in England........

Best to read the rest at link as long article and schedules, charts and video there.

I've seen some soft penalties in my time but the one England just got takes the cake. 😂

Anyone else watching the quarter final? Goodish game so far with England snatching a late equaliser to force the game into extra time. Spain dominated for the majority but, after the goal, England were all over them. Tails up.

Fingers crossed for extra time. :D

"It’s England who have been installed as the 10/11 favourites to win in 90 minutes and 4/11 to progress through to the final. Sweden are 15/4 to come out on top in normal time and 21/10 to set-up a final against either France or Germany. Meanwhile, a draw at 90 minutes is priced at 5/2."

Good luck to England tonight.

"England reached their first major women's tournament final since 2009 in stunning fashion as they put four past Olympic finalists Sweden at Euro 2022 in Sheffield."

This is a comment on the BBC, describes it perfectly.
It was both audacious and outrageous

Think good thoughts. I don't know how France or Germany has played throughout, but I doubt they have been close to England's talent and coaching ability. They struggled in the first 20 minutes last night as reported, but then rallied in a big, big way. Just keep it all together for 1 more match. Home crowd as well which is worth a goal or 2. :D

Must admit I had only intended on having the match on in the background simply to show "some" support..... BUT, have to say watched it right the way through and truly enjoyed it - fair play :thumb:

Can't say I'll go out of my way to watch the final, but I'll certainly give it a look if not doing anything else!! :D

I see now that it's sexist to refer to the England Women's Football Team as the "Lionesses" - they should be called the "Lions" as are the Men's....... F***ing pathetic!! :cuss: :banghead:

Well the BBC are still referring to them as Lionesses and the fact that some of them are likely to become relatively wealthy (although poor by comparison to their male counterparts)
