Apple Pay

Post by derek60 »

Thailand isn't in the list of Apple Pay participating countries so i assumed it wouldn't work here. But my wife tried to use it in Boots, and despite me telling her it wouldn't work, it did!. Although we have tried it in other places and it hasn't worked. Does anyone know if there is logic to it and if it would work in other retailers?

payWave - NFC Payment

Post by Ratsima »

I made a small purchase at Thai Watsadu (Korat) yesterday. I noticed the terminal at the cashier was payWave (NFC) enabled so I thought I'd give it a try using my iPhone and Apple Wallet. I've used it often in the US, but never here.

The cashier fiddled with the terminal and asked what card I was using, but before I could answer the payment was completed.

When I got home I was surprised to see that payee for the transaction was: Rubber Authority of Thailand Nakhon Ratchasima.

What is this? Does the Rubber Authority have some sort of relationship with Thai Watsadu or is this just a weird glitch, or something worse? The payee map in the Apple Wallet app shows the Rubber Authority as being approximately across Hwy 204 from Thai Watsadu. AFAIK, no such place exists. But, of course, I don't know everything.
