RIP Chris Stewart

Post by lomuamart »

It is with regret that I am informing anyone who knew him that Chris's body was discovered earlier this afternoon at his home in Hua Hin.

Chris had an illustrative career as an Editor and served spells at The Scotsman, The Yorkshire Post, The South China Morning Post in Hong Kong and The Nation in Bangkok before moving to Hua Hin as Business Editor of Asia Times. Most recently, he was working a few shifts for Middle East Eye.

It appears that Chris died peacefully in his sleep about three days ago.

The relevant local authorities were efficient this afternoon and his remains are currently at Hua Hin Hospital.

When I know more about funeral arrangements, I'll post them.

Sad news. RIP.

I knew Chris for several years working together at AT, but we lost touch over the past few years. A peaceful passing is a good way to go, see you in that newsroom in the sky.

I am reaching out from Middle East Eye. We are quite shaken to learn today of Stewart's passing. We have been trying to reach him for weeks without any success. Chris contributed significantly to MEE’s work since he started with us in 2015. We have certainly lost an experienced and talented colleague and professional.

We would like to make contact with the executors of his estate. Would you be able to help? We may be reached at Legal@middleeasteye.org

Many thanks.
