What about It’s replacement Microsoft Teams - does that give you what you need?

I also use Skype to call long distance when recipient is not connected to internet (an old fashioned phone). The reason for using Skype is that it is much cheaper than calling directly from my phone. As far as I can see Microsoft Teams does not offer this functionality!

I haven’t tried this but it seems like a possible alternative to Skype?

Had a look at teams as well as it was advised, but I also cannot find the possibility to call fixed or other lines.
And they do not transfer my remaining skype credit as well

According to this, you can use your Skype credit after it closes

Anyway I found Yolla... but only works on phone not on laptop, which is not a big issue for me

I used Messenger video (voice alone an alternative) successfully yesterday. Obviously both/all parties need to be on that application.

I have tried both Teams, Yolla and Viber but for me and my call habits I found mytello.com as best solution. Not as cheap as Skype but so far good quality when calling :)

Mytello has excellent call quality, but you do have to pay for a call to mytello (how much depends on your mobile provider) as well as the mytello cost to the person you are calling. It can add up....

I had Viber before through work, I found it not very good, bad connections.
But that was a while ago.... Could be better now
I will try Yolla first
