MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR JOE

Post by JW »

There will be a service for Joe on Thursday 7th September at 6.30 pm at Selasian Church (beside Market Village).
Following this we will be having a get together in Crawfords with free beer while it lasts and food, all welcome.
Lets give him the send off he deserves.

My family and I give a yea count to the service and the get together afterwards. Thanks for posting this reminder JW, Joe deserves the best that his friends and business associates in Hua Hin can give for the send off that he deserves. I am sure all his friends if they can make it will be there.

"Hello boy, what you up to then?"

See you there.

David of the Hua Hin Ham Bacon and Meat Company is very kindly supplying the food. There will also be plenty of beer, wine and soft drinks.
Joe would want us all to have a 'good drink'.

Everything is complimentary so hopefully we will get some good donations for the Ben Benevolent Fund choosen by Wendy.

The memorial for Joe turned out, as expected to be a really nice send off for our mate.
I requested "Hey Joe" the Hendrix classic from Matt at Surf fm, good on ya Matt it was played just as we arrived at the church. Tissue number 1 required!
Once inside the church the head count must have got to over 100 people -great turnout.
The service was quite somber, but the vicar spoke very nicely, and the boys doing the singing made up for those like me who cant.
Vaughan, a regular at the rack and a good friend of Joe gave paid his respects to Joe - well done to ya man - no way i could have done that.
Young Steve who was/is Joes protege (very talented racer - watch out for him) gave his respects, saying that Joe was a winner and tried to instill this into him - often yelling at him to "get a move on boy - my Racheal could drive faster than that" lovely comment, which raised atmosphere, from the young fella who will miss his 2nd dad very much.
Off to Crawfords for a beer or seven! Thanks to Ken who put on a load of free beer for us and Dave for a beautiful spread - great selection of meats, sausage rolls and proper Red Liecester cheese (coming to Hua Hin soon!). BIG THANKS TO YOU BOTH.
Joes children - Hannah and Rachael were flying around, winding in and out of every one - having a ball. The kids really show us how to deal with this sort of thing - get on with it and have fun.
Wendy was in great form, also had a good chat with Neil who is running the track now and all are doing good.
Cant remember what time i left, but had a great night and was great to see all of Joes friends who could make it. Big thanks to all who attended.
11 130 baht was raised for the charity BEN, thanks to all who donated.

I got to give my thanks for everybody who turned up for the service and (or) party send off afterwards. It was a truly great night. It is brilliant that all that money was raised on the night, thank you to everyone for your generosity. It warmed my heart to see the girls having so much fun with friends of Joe, and Wendy was a true tower of strength, seeing her mingle and have time to speak with everyone showed great composure and character. I’m sure, inside it must have been very difficult for her, answering questions and consoling others in their own sense of loss, without getting emotionally upset, A true lady.

A glass was raised by everybody in remembrance and with thanks for our friend who was Joe. The night never seemed to end, and, in true Joe style, I was determined to be the last to leave, Ken stopped me for one last beer at about 2.30 am. I gave him my thanks for a splendid evening, and would like to say again, thanks to all who put something into the night, and to everyone who turned up. This is one for the journal, filled three pages today, most of which is personal and you won’t read here, I’m sure we all have our inner thoughts of this saga, when I returned to my thoughts as written in my journal on July 2nd - 7th, I understand how I have come to terms with this lose, my writings today are more of an understanding of his friendship and a celebration of our acquaintance. Good on ya Joe, glad to have been a friend.

Don’t forget this Sunday at the track, there is an endurance race. Back to business for Wendy and family, and I’m sure a great healing process for anyone who knew Joe. Be there, show your support and enjoy the fun. If you believe in such things, I’m sure you will find Joe will also be there in one way or another, even if just as a reminder of what he accomplished at JWS Motorsport, and the thrill of the race. I can see him smiling as the checkered flag falls, it fills my heart that his dream continues. Bring on the drivers, teams, spirit and fun that Joe taught us all how to enjoy.

As an incentive, anybody racing this Sunday or at any other endurance race in the future, who beats Joe’s track record time earns 5,000 bht from the Ham & Bacon Co. (Times to be verified by Neil). Gentlemen, start your engines. :thumb:
