New golf course?
I'm coming back to Hua Hin at xmas & intend to play as many courses as possible. Searching around on the net I've seen a new course mentioned, Queens Valley. Does anybody know when it's due to open, & how far it is from Hua Hin?

Not a chance ready for play at Christmas. The grass hasn't even started to grown yet. If they do open they will regret it as there will be no chance to get good growth on the Fairways.
Don't worry though the new 9 at Springfield is now in good nick and has some really good holes. Bad news for walk on's is that Green Fees are going up again.

I have not seen any new golf course here that is “readyâ€
Silverbird is right, Queens Valley will not be ready by JAnuary as was the plan, Grass is going down fast at the moment and having ridden the course by motorbike i can tell u it will be AWESOME!
Banyan Golf Course is due to start construction anytime now, due for completion in 18 months. This located around soi 112 just to the south of town - again a great piece of land which should give a great track.
New 9 at Lake View is getting close, looks very nice - they will of course open to soon!!

I agree Courses A&B are still the best. However, the new 9 holes are a different type of test. 1st and 9th wide and open but the others require more accuracy to avoid the water and the very deep bunkers. Also the greens have more severe slopes than A&B.
Played Lamlukka last week. Give it a try if you are around Bangkok, in great condition and cheap. Baht 900 for day ticket Mon,Thurs,Fri and Baht 600 Tues & Wed.

Perhaps you frequent players can enlighten me:
Is Springfield A and B closed?
In this case - when will they open again?
Is it true what I heard, that Queens Valley will have no members, that it will be an exclusive, expensive pay-and-play course?
In this case - anything said about the size of the green fee?
Thanks in advance for any answers!

I have been told the same as Gutte - one owner who is extremely wealthy, he hasnt really told anyone about how the course can be played. Seems to be quite tight lipped with his plans. It is a 36 hole project.
Just a bit of useless info here, they are using a very particular type of grass there, one which is tough to maintain, but gives the best playing surface and is very deep green in colour - why? he said that when his course is on TV he wants it to look amazing. If he really does get the Johnnie Walker Classic at some point in the future it will be great for Hua Hin. In reality this must be at least 5 years away.

I think it maybe a grass call Seashore Paspalum from Australia the same grass that has been used at the new Chiangmai Highlands Course and is the same as that used at Thai Country Club, I think.
It has a beautiful deep green colour but as JW noted requires alot of water and TLC.
Let's hope we can all get to play the course at a reasonable cost.
