cyber thingy business

Post by sargeant »

After much mulling, musing and exercising of the sponge i have decided to ask for help on this subject.
I have many questions! i thought of putting this on the digital realm but i am scared of the geek language which i dont possess any of.Oh and make sure your anti virus is on cos i dont wanna catchit.
My years of training mean i can understand complicated commands such as place instep of chosen foot smartly and swiftly to groin ensuring said genitalia are twixt, With a swift and jerking movement place elbow into epiglotis my only insight to the digital realm being index digit and middle digits to encounter violently with said enemies pupils.
So please type slowly as i dont read quick and make it simple
Q1 Do i have to type the title in every time i post to a topic
Q2 Where does the two handed emoticom come from
I have tried view more emoticons and buggerall happens
Q3 Sorry guess i still cant get quotes right cant get the ackle of it
Q4 whats a BB code
That will do 4 now im gonna have a kip

I know where you are coming from Sargeant; I joined the navy at 16 and spent 10 years learning to launch things off ships that hopefully went bang somewhere else.
As to your questions, Q1: No you don’t have to put the title in every time.
Q2 and Q3: I understand what you mean, but sorry, I don’t know either.
Q4: I don’t understand any computer codes!
Hopefully someone else can be more helpful.

Q1: No, only the first time.

Q2: Click the View more Emoticons link under the current emoticons.

Q3: Click the Quote button above your post to insert one or use the following: [ quote ] quoted text [ /quote ] without spaces.

Q4: Bulletin Board code, an example of which is above.

Moving this to suggestions as its board tech related.

Sarge,
If the emoticons disappear, they are still there but in a different window. Look to the bottom of your screen. On mine, as I'm writing this I have 2 "titles" - HHAD:Nightlife andE.. and HuaHinAfterDark.com...

If your emoticons disappear, you'll have another title http://huahinafterdar...

Click on this one & your emoticons will come back as you're reopening that window

As for the quote (that was q3 wasn't it?) Look at the top right hand corner of each persons post & you'll see a sign saying "quote". Click that & it'll put the entire quote into the beginning of your next post, ready for you to write your two penn'orth after. :thumb:

To highlight only a bit of someone's quote delete the rest of it by clicking onto the quote & use "backspace" key until you've deleted all but the bit you want. Remember to leave the computers quote intsructions at the beginning & end of the quote though or it won't work! That's probably the easiest way to do it.

Thanks for your good wishes. It's nice that you'd met Du. He was a lovely guy.

I'll pass on your good wishes to Mum. Sounded like you know her - do we know you in real life? Not asking you to identify yourself  , just wondering

BTW, Sarge, I'm abstaining from the vote, as I presume the "animal lover" category is aimed at me & I try very hard not to push that down people's throats! But FYI, if I did vote, I'm afraid neither Jaime nor you would get my vote for most annoying poster - my irritations come from completely different directions...

I've never put a quote on to this board doing what you're all saying above. What I do is:

Click the Quote button above your message box,
Scroll down in Topic review and highlight the text I want to quote,
While the text is highlighted, I hit Ctrl C (Ctrl key and C together),
Put my cursor back to the right of the Quote symbol in my message,
Hit Ctrl V (Ctrl key and V together) - the text should appear in your message,
Click the Quote button above again.

I hope this isn't too much of the greek language talked about in the OP.
